Historic Germantown is a partnership of 16 extraordinary historic houses, destinations, and museums in Northwest Philadelphia that have joined together to protect, preserve, and share some of Philadelphia's prized historical assets. There will be representatives and information on each of these sites and how you can get involved in preserving them at the event! Connect with Historic Germantown on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

Will there be food you ask?

Yes! Of course, there will be food and lots of it. A section of Germantown Avenue from School House Lane to Coulter Street will be closed to traffic to allow for over 40 vendors to attend the festival.

Some of the delicious food that will be featured includes... Side of the Road Jerk Chicken ❀ Sweet Lavender ❀ Uptown BBQ and Grill ❀ Nick's Roast Beef ❀Hardy Funnel Cakes ❀and SOOOOO many more!

What about shopping? Will there be anything to buy?

Shopping is a must! Part of the reason we love this festival so much is that it connects community members to local business owners and shops. Buying local is becoming more and more important to community success and Germantown has a TON to offer its residents.

This is only a small selection of the performers who graced us with their presence at previous festivals. The performance aspect of this event is actually my favorite part. It is a showcase of all the incredible talent that Germantown and its residents have to offer! It also means that there is always something to entertain you while you stuff your face with delicious treats and meet up with friends and family.

The performances already announced for the 2018 festival include... Ursula Rucker (Poet and Performance Artist) ❀ Ms. Tia Mcneil (Acclaimed Spoken Word, Singer-Songwriter & Vocalist) ❀ BalletX (Distinguished Choreographers and World Class Dance Company) ❀ Kinesics Dance Dynamics (Youth Performance Group) ❀ Wissahickon Dance Academy (Youth Performance Group) ❀ Karen Smith (Percussionist) ❀ Jim Dragoni and his son Andrew (Jazz and Blue Guitarist) ❀ Perry "Vision" DiVirgilio (Poet & Activist)

So what do you expect for me to do with my kids all day?

Do not fear! There will be a kids zone with tons of activities to keep them going all day long. In addition, a few of the performers are youth groups that may inspire your youngster to get involved and meet new friends! With helpful volunteers to facilitate the activities, you'll simply have to keep a watchful eye while you enjoy a cold beverage and a chat with friends!

The kids' zone will offer... Moon Bounce ❀ Face Painting ❀ Karate Demonstrations ❀ Art Fueled Interaction Activities

So tell me one more time why I should attend Germantown's Second Saturday Festival next weekend?

Germantown is an important neighborhood that has shaped the history and growth of Philadelphia as a whole. So even if you're not from Germantown, the festival will demonstrate Germantown's historical importance, allow you to meet the beautiful community of families, shop owners, performers & visionaries who live there now and above all to dance and have fun!
