The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion. ~ Thomas Paine
The Fourth of July brings fireworks, family, and barbecue, and rightly so—we’re celebrating the anniversary of our national independence! It’s also a time for reflection.
Independence Day calls attention to the great principles championed by our founding fathers and American revolutionaries—that of equality, freedom, opportunity, and autonomy.
But the work did not stop with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We need to continue to stand up for our nation’s ideals and actively promote those beliefs of liberty, justice, and equality for all. So on this Fourth of July, let us also celebrate diversity and kindness, and aim to do good.
